October 11-14, 2018
New Orleans, LA
Mondo Bizarro’s Place Based Training Immersion is an intensive site of exploration for people who are curious about
- physical and vocal training,
- the centrality of place in the creation, presentation and touring of original performance work, and
- what a deep investment in social change could look like in the lands and communities they call home.
This careful braiding of movement laboratory, song circles, site visits, community meals, activist dialogues and performance creation offers participants a deep dive into the wonders and travails of New Orleans and the creative methodologies Mondo Bizarro has used to create work and engage community for the last fifteen years.

WHO ARE WE?
Mondo Bizarro is a New Orleans-based company that has been creating interdisciplinary art and fostering creative partnerships in local, national and international communities for fifteen years. Our creative endeavors range from ensemble performances to large-scale community festivals, from innovative digital storytelling projects to site-responsive productions. As artists of place, our journeys begin and end in New Orleans: we tour to embolden our efforts here. We develop our performance and media projects over 12-18 month gestation periods and share them in our home, throughout the country, and across the globe. Our creations embody the urgency of our desire to listen to our land and culture, develop allies in collective action, and provide a platform for using art as a tool to understand what makes us commonly human and individually unique. Since 2002, our wide array of imaginative projects including
FLIGHT (2007-2010),
LOUP GAROU (2009-Present),
RACE PEACE (2008-Present) and
CRY YOU ONE (2013-Present) have toured to art centers, universities and outdoor locations in 34 states across the country and abroad.
